What Our Ancestors actually believed?
Mostly two things: mainstream religion and in many case, an esoteric cult based upon arcane lore. Magic, witchcraft or better shamanism is the basis of ALL religions as Mircea Eliade teached. I respect all believes and temples and like Alexander the Great, as stated in the first degree of the italian Martinist Order, I bow down and pray in all places and cults because there is only one religion but many ways of manifestation.
