Within the Cult of the Purgatory Souls (now in quick extinction), the suffering deads are basically divided into three kinds:

Headless/Hanged Souls (Anime decollate)

Drowned Souls (Anime affogate)

Murdered Souls (Anime Ammazzate)

Those deads were said to aid men in their life problems in exchange for prayers, candles, offerings and devotion.

The Headless Ones for example helps those that have lost their head, their mental health due to a strong passion or loss, depressions etc

The Murdered Ones help those who are victims of violence, hate etc

The cause of their death, their life as well, determinates an empathy with the devote asking for their help creating a bond of mutual help. Some even ask for lotto’s numbers…

This typical Roman Catholic cult was also banned in Naples due to popular abuse and superstictions but, while, it is loosing devotees in Europe it seems to gain strength among Hispanics nowadays…
